Living tradition can be a wonderful thing, as is the case here at the Thanisch winery owned by the widow of Dr. H. Thanisch, whose family history dates back to 1636. Today, the eleventh and twelfth generations are already running the winery hand in hand. Mother Sofia oversees the business, but it is daughter Christina who skillfully and in harmony with nature reduces the yield of her vines on the weathered clay-slate soils in order to bring the best possible fruit into the cellar, which expresses the terroir in delicate, spicy wines in such a unique, skillful way. The Thanisch winery stands for multi-layered Mosel Riesling in a wide variety of shades, but always at the highest level!
