Claret Napa Valley

High up on Howell Mountain, Bob and his wife Kelly have built their winery by driving a tunnel into the mountain. A functional building, except perhaps for the recording studio that Bob has built far back in the tunnel. After all, he is not only a passionate winemaker but also an equally passionate musician. But back to business. This Claret, this year a Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot blend, is another HAMMER wine! Blackcurrant, liquorice and black truffle aromas tickle my nose. Wonderful! I really want to take a small test sip, I'm really looking forward to experiencing the wine with all my senses. It is incredibly powerful, flows like silk and ends sweetly, not like sugar but like a lot of extract. Yes, this is one of my favorite wines. BUT put it away for five, six or more years and enjoy it with some maturity and you will regret not owning more of it!
