Mercurey Rouge 1er Cru Clos du Roy

2021

Traubensorten Pinor Noir
Trinktemperatur 16° - 18°

If I had to describe this wine in one word, I would probably choose the term "brilliant". Brilliant because you wouldn't expect a wine of this quality and class in the Mercurey appellation. So it is something of a surprise. I would also describe the skills of the Bautistas as brilliant, but not only. Even more brilliant is the fact that the bautistas take on the immense work, the high risk - it can easily happen that rain destroys a harvest, especially if you work organically like Manu and Anthony - to press such a wine at all.

In the Clos de Roy, it is dark cherries, similar to the Clos de Touches, which leave their aromatic mark on the bouquet. With a little air, the cherries make room for a delicate rose scent and a hint of musk ... yes, it's true! The sensation on the palate is incomparable. First the power impresses, the fleshy (don't worry, the wine doesn't taste like meat, it's the feeling) body, then the structure takes over before the wine ends in a long mineral finish. Give the wine some time, put it down, that's our recommendation, even if it won't be easy.
