Chardonnay Charles Heintz

If Rachel hadn't accidentally sent us a sample bottle of this two years ago and if I hadn't been so persistent, we wouldn't be able to offer you this Chardonnay from Charles Heintz Vineyard this year! It was a picture-perfect evening last July in Ojai, the sky was clear and the stars were twinkling. Sitting in the meadow, watching the kids play, we listened to the sounds of the bluegrass band and pulled the cork out of the Charles Heintz bottle. The aroma blew us away, combining tangerines, apricots, camomile and honey. The wine also impressed us mightily on the palate, but it is elegant and not powerful and ends delicately mineral, really juicy, so that the saliva just pours in. This is a California Chardonnay experience of a different kind. Almost a bit like Roulot, perhaps? Charles Heintz Vineyard is my absolute favorite Chardonnay from Ted's cellar, which I try to express with my 101 points!
