Maranges BLANC Les Plantes

Puligny- and Chassagne-Montrachet are not that far away and Santenay is practically “next door”. And yet everything is different here in Sampginy-les-Maranges. It is much fresher here than up on the “Gold Coast”, which is generally a huge advantage today, especially of course in hotter than average years. The Cassiopée does not actually grow in the Les Plantes vineyard, but right next to it, otherwise it would “only” be a Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. But that doesn't stop Talloulah and Hugo from giving it the same name. And who cares about a name, because only what ends up in the bottle and ultimately in our glass is really of interest and this is really great here! The scent of nectarines is wonderful, or is it white vineyard peaches combined with delicate floral notes? It doesn't matter! The wine smells hellishly good. The attack is powerful and the acidity fresh and racy; the wine also needs this to dance energetically across the palate. A hell of a wine. If only there were more of it!
