We got to know Furmint, Hárslevelü and Kékfrankos from Bott Frigyes for the first time in December 2022 in our vinotheque and immediately took them to our hearts. Not only are these traditional varieties from Slovakia (between the Danube, the Garam River and the southern side of the Muszla Mountains) incredibly exciting, but the wine style of Frigyes Bott, as the winemaker is actually called, is also impressive:
Frigyes uses no pesticides or other chemicals in the entire production process, instead relying entirely on natural, biodynamic methods. All wines are fermented with wild yeasts and aged in traditional oak wood before being bottled unfiltered, unfined and with minimal addition of sulphur.
The wines are calm, balanced and lively, always with a firm core, but also an engaging juiciness that, accompanied by ripe fruit, makes for great drinking pleasure.
