n the tiny cellars of the Alessandrias, the children seem to have brought new vigor, knowledge and precision. That's great! Father Gianfranco loves vineyard work more than anything and has entrusted the cellar to his daughter Vittoria. Well done! Now he can concentrate on what he does best and what he likes to do best. This is most likely the key to boosting the quality of these wines. The basic Barolo from the Alessandrias, for example, is a really great wine! It has a wonderful aroma of red cherries and strawberries, roses and herbs, leather and perhaps a hint of tobacco. The palate is powerfully dense. Its structure is of the very best quality. Its fine-grained tannin is present, but is immediately wrapped up by the muscular body. The finish is long and juicy. A great wine which, however, requires a little patience before it presents itself properly, or a little time in the carafe. Decanter, right?
