Wines from Serralung can be great. Other winemakers, such as the legendary Bruno Giacosa, have proven this countless times. For us, Altares Barolo Cerretta Vigna Bricco, a Riserva, is one of Serralunga's flagship wines, one of the very best in the Langhe, just like Giacosa's wines. As contradictory as it may sound to you, it combines power and elegance in a way that only very few Piedmont wines are capable of. It is also great that the appearance, the brick red color, the lightened rim and the red berry aroma take me back to the Piedmont of the eighties and early nineties, to the time when we sat at Elio and Lucia Altare's table once a month. For me, this Cerretta embodies Piedmont as I have come to know and love it, with all its facets. And you? What Piedmont fantasies do you have? If you're looking for inspiration, the Cerretta could become your muse!
