Alessandria's work culminates in the Barolo San Giovanni. For me! And how is it for you? Or do you not even know this great wine yet? I'd be happy to tell you what matters to me personally about this wine, how I perceive it. The vines nestle picturesquely against the rolling hills of Monforte, which face south-east. The green of the leaves is particularly intense in the evening sun and with a little wind moving the leaves, the underside of the leaves, shimmering silver from their hairs, flashes out here and there, brightening up the lush green for a tiny moment. But now to the wine, which smells wonderfully of dark cherries, then spices, then chocolate and even fine mocha. It's wonderful how lively and multi-layered this bouquet is, building up again and again. Initially, power is in the foreground with a little more air, freshness builds up. A sensational Barolo!
