Bettina grows at Madrona Ranch, Thorevilos and Las Posadas Vineyards, which - of course, I almost said - are all tended by Abreu and his team. Madrona and Las Posadas are even owned by David. It is clear to anyone who knows David, not necessarily personally, but his history and reputation, that sensational fruit grows here. Bettina combines everything that the Napa Valley is capable of giving in terms of grape varieties, terroirs and, last but not least, elevations. All these components grow over the years into a wine that is one of the greats of the valley, one of the best on the planet. We recently enjoyed a 2012 Bettina that showed the first signs of maturity, fantastic iodine notes that you only find in the best Graves from particularly good years, a silky, densely woven body that wrapped us around its imaginary finger with its unimaginable extract. Wine that is worth owning and enjoying!
