That doesn't even exist! Such a wine from South Tyrol? These are my thoughts when I have the Auhof from Baron Widmann in my glass. When you think of South Tyrol, and I count myself among them, the first thing that comes to mind is the mountains, then the speck from Dutch pigs, the white wines, a Vernatsch and Lagrein perhaps, but a Cabernet-Merlot and then in this exceptional quality? No, I would never look there. We are all wrong! Because this Auhof is a really great wine! It smells just as beautiful and appealing as the wines of the classic Bordeaux châteaux. There are dark berry aromas, cranberries, figs, roasted herbs and a little coffee. An alpine clarity gives it that certain something. On the palate, the wine is elegant, spicy and shows a structure of the best quality, perfectly integrated. This is a great wine that we should enjoy much more often!
