There is no question that Drouhin-Laroze's wines from the Chambertin-Clos de Bèze vineyard are among the very best in Burgundy. The Drouhins cultivate an area of just 1.5 hectares here. No, you're quite right of course, it's not the area that matters, it's the quality of the wine that interests us. These vines were planted here in 1949 and the wines that grow here tell us stories that fascinate us on many levels. The aroma is almost exuberant, the concentration of fruit, spice and floral accents of this almost impetuous, youthful wine. Powerful, concentrated, dense, silky and then showing grip on the finish, the wine signals that, with patience, it has a lot to offer that is still lying dormant today.
