Daniel Huber is one of the Swiss winegrowing icons, not for Gault Millau Switzerland but for me he is. He was one of the pioneers in Ticino back in the 1980s and did a lot for Switzerland and its wine culture. His son Jonas, who is now at the helm, stepped out of Daniel's shadow and today produces wines that are among the best that Ticino has to offer! This wine is no exception. A cuvée that is inspired by Bordeaux, but is also a true Ticino wine at heart. The wine is a rich dark red, with a seductive aroma of cassis, blackberries and a subtle hint of cigar box. Wonderful! Structured and focused, the wine flows onto the palate, but once there it packs the structure into a wonderful, extract-rich body and starts a lively, finely mineral finish. A beautiful wine that should be enjoyed much more often, even by us!
