Le Rouvre is Yann's flagship, alongside his Hermitage of course. The old vines that bear the fruit for this wine are located in the very south of the appellation. The Rhône can still be seen in the far distance. In the cellar, the wine is matured in used demi-muids that once housed the Hermitage. They give the wine its polish, break it up and make it accessible even in its youth. I really like the fact that the barrels are aroma-neutral, allowing the wonderfully mineral terroir to be recognized unadorned. There are white flowers, guavas and other exotic fruits that mix with blackcurrant and cherry aromas to create a killer fragrance. Wow! On the palate, the wine shows density and a silky structure of the best quality that carries it for a long time. Its finish is balanced and juicy with a nice fruity-mineral touch. Well done, Yann!
