Gigondas La Colline

When was that again? Possibly in January 2015, when we tasted the first La Colline, the 2013. We were an illustrious group of wine lovers, merchants and sommeliers. Although I can't remember the exact date, I do remember the reactions of my companions when they tasted this new wine, La Colline, for the first time. There, their foreheads were furrowed, their right eyebrow was raised and immediately lowered again, but only to immediately furrow their foreheads as well. This was followed by slurping, no, not gargling, you don't do that. A second scrutinizing sip was necessary to confirm the first impression. The verdict was unanimous: this La Colline is a great wine. We were and still are deeply impressed! Of course, Julien has perfected this wine even further over the years, in terms of weight, but without taking away its density. He has lightened the aromas, made it more transparent, more complex, bigger, simply even better!
