The gnarled, ancient vines for the Lieu-Dit are rooted right next to the winery in sand as fine as powder, facing north-east, at the foot of Montmirail, which provides shade until midday. Surprisingly, its vin de soleil character is hardly recognizable in its aroma right away; its bouquet is rather cool, but fresh and precise, with red berry fruit. Ripe, juicy cherries and small wild strawberries can be recognized. This wonderful fruit is supported by hearty, spicy components, such as the fine aroma of a fresh black olive de Nice tapenade, which gives the wine an unmistakable Provençal touch. The wine flows powerfully onto the palate, where it confidently presents its wonderful structure before wrapping it up, like a great magician, in an incredibly well-formed body, making the tannins as fine as velvet, before beginning a never-ending, juicy finish.
