There are countless new wines, i.e. new cabs from Napa Valley, and it's easy to lose track. But don't worry, thanks to our network in the valley, we can hear the grass growing and deliver the MUST HAVES to you on a platter. Just such a wine is this one, Shae's and Nigel's Hierothesion. An unusual name for a wine, agreed. But isn't that what we've come to expect from this creative team, which is far above average on many levels? Perhaps. The name is no coincidence, as Hierothesion refers to a royal burial place, a cemetery, and the Kinsmen have "buried" single-vineyard wines in Hierothesion, which are super good in quality but, in Shae and Nigel's view, prevent their great wines from achieving the perfect score. So Hierothesion is Kinsman Eades' entry-level wine. Man, how silly does that sound! You'll see, once you have this wine in your glass, that it has as little to do with a "gateway wine" as, yeah, like ... oh, you know what I mean. The wine smells seductively of redcurrants, generally the fruit is red berry and perhaps a hint of mulberry mixed in. Spices and a fine tobacco note give the perfume depth. Powerful, as you would expect from a Napa wine, it flows onto the palate. But to everyone's surprise, the Hierothesion shows contours - you are right, of course, with Kinsman-Eades this is less surprising - it gives off a great energy and with this it is wonderfully elegant, almost incomparable at this level. This is a MUST-HAVE Napa Cab for all enthusiasts!
