Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru

2019

Traubensorten Pinot Noir
Trinktemperatur 16° - 18°

This guy, Christophe Perrot-Minot, manages to let his terroir speak for itself in a way that very few other winemakers can. If we were talking about a TV show, he would only use the teleprompter to provide support when absolutely necessary and otherwise convey confidence to the speaker solely through his presence. This is roughly how one could imagine Christophe's task in the Mazoyères Chambertin vineyards, a gigantically good terroir that is a little cooler than others in Chambertin. Mazoyères has a tremendous presence, which the wine already manifests with its irresistible red berry fruit, the sweet Arabian-like spice notes, the orange bark and a hint of black tea quite outrageously with its bouquet! Only when it reaches the palate does the resolution and the image maximize, Mazoyères shows all its enormous luminosity. This is really, really, really great cinema!
