Monastrell El Mudo

Standing on limestone, these Monastrell vines have defied the Mediterranean winds for many decades, which, although dry, also bring some moisture to the land during the rainy season. Incidentally, around 75% of the Monastrell planted throughout Spain grows in the Alicante appellation and is native to the area, having adapted to the terroir over a long period of time and producing fruit for the very best wines. This one is dark purple in color and smells beguilingly of ripe black cherries, plums and herbs. On the palate, it is powerful and yet elegant. This is what Monastrell is good at, combining elegance and power. A great wine that you should not miss if you like fiery Spanish wines!
