Could Orizzonte also be seen as Zündel's answer to the Bordelais? Nonsense, it is rather the expression of a longing that the Zündels live out in this wine. Orizzonte could certainly be described as Cavallo di Battaglia, as this wine is in the limelight, if you can call it that. Oh well, even this comparison is a misnomer, because Zündel and the limelight somehow don't really go together. Wines like the ones produced here are anything but crowd pleasers. They require a certain penchant for wines with character, for wines with rough edges, for wines that are hesitant at first, but then switch to the fast lane as they mature. Spice and fine red berry fruit combine here to create a great wine that inspires the mind and the imagination, which, as much as it is reminiscent of a racy, elegant Bordeaux, has remained a true Ticino - thank goodness!
