Pinot Noir Bodega Thieriot Sonoma Coast

2021

Traubensorten Pinot Noir
Trinktemperatur 16° - 18°

I told you so when we read the first credits of the series "Seal Teams". Max Thieriot, just like the winemaker on the Sonoma Coast. And today, a few years later, I find out that Max Thieriot from Seal Team is actually the son of the aforementioned winemaker. What's more, Max is Thomas Brown's grape supplier for this wine, Bodega Thieriot. And Thomas Brown is winemaker at the Sense winery, which Max Thieriot founded with his buddies Christopher and Myles. The three of them planted the vineyard, quite far out, from where the famous Bodega Bay can be seen - this is where Alfred Hitchkock's film "The Birds" was set. But enough about movies and television, now to the wine:

The vines are still young, but Thierot and his buddies have done everything right, because the fruit is great. The aromas of Tarocco oranges and dark cherries are rather fleeting. Lots of spice, pepper, indeed the whole juniper, allspice and clove corner combines with delicate notes of saline to create an incredibly attractive, captivating bouquet. On the palate, the wine is quite dense, yet light-footed, even playful, until the moment when the structure makes its way through the extract and makes it clear that time is the key to a great Pinot Noir moment!
