The name “Cuvée des Docteurs” is a tribute to the former “doctor students” who helped Lucien Aviet with the harvest during their studies. That was a long time ago, but the Aviet family still honours the memory by naming the wines from this vineyard after the harvest workers of that time. I like it when people express their gratitude in a sentimental way, like Lucien and now his son Vincent. The wine, yes, it's a stunner! Light in color – some would think it's a rosé, but no, it's actually a red – and hot as hell in the scent, its fruit is breathtaking and wonderfully varied, sometimes it's raspberry notes, then immediately pomegranate flavors, only to be replaced by a fabulous cranberry scent. Heavenly as the wine floats through the palate, weightless. You don't find something like this wine every day, because it is as light as a feather and yet incredibly present! This wine is not for people who like to pour themselves an Aalto or one of those coastal Tuscans. These wines are for people who like energy, who prefer quiet tones.
