The color, normally not an issue in my reviews, must be mentioned here, because it is unusually bright, transparent and should not confuse you in any way, because this is not a light wine by any standard, there is a lot of power here. But more than that, there is also acidity and pithy tannin at play here, which shapes and perfectly balances the wine. The aroma is multifaceted and ranges from blackcurrants to blackberries, roasted bacon, graphite and a wonderful herbal scent to a mineral core that seems to be buried so deep down and yet can be clearly and distinctly perceived. You could simply call the bouquet multi-layered, but this apt but very factual description does not seem to do the wine justice. This is a mega-Syrah that feels more European than we could ever have imagined. Really! And it's a great wine to boot. So check it out!
