Syrah Bien Nacido «Il Padrino»

People are queuing up to get fruit from this magical place, the Bien Nacido Vineyard which is nurtured and cared for by Chris Hammell. Paul Lato is also an old friend of Chris and of course played this card a few years ago and secured a fantastic block at the top of the hill. The wine is incredibly dark in color and smells just like a Bien Nacido wine should smell...it is as distinctive as an Alban wine, but smells fundamentally different...from a talented winemaker like Paul of course, one who lets the terroir speak. Tapenade, blackberries, bacon, some smoke and that pepperoni touch combine to create an indescribably attractive aroma. It feels silky on the tongue, the tannins are of the best quality and excellently integrated. The finish is elegant and long-lasting. Kudos dear Paul!
