Reva is and remains my Alban favorite. No wine smells more distinctive than the Reva, none! This wine always has a lot going on in the glass. Liquorice, blackcurrants and cherries together with graphite notes vie for the top spot in the aroma pyramid. No one seems to win, because every time you bring the glass to your nose, the aroma has changed. A lively wine! The wine confidently takes over the palate, showing itself to be multi-layered, sometimes fruity, sometimes pithy, then mineral again. The beauty of this wine is that it is not just about sheer power, but about the harmonious overall picture. The wine is surprisingly fresh and the tannins are of the best quality and wonderfully integrated. This is a great wine that can be enjoyed young but will really come into its own with a few years in the bottle. I am lucky enough to still have a few bottles from the 90s and I can assure you they still rock!
