I know few great Syrahs from Northern California, two to be honest, the one from Colgin and this one. Both are great wines. John's Syrah smells heartily of black pepper, tar, bacon fat and licorice which leads into blackberry and Tarocco orange flavors. But all this is only tolerated because suddenly the wine smells of herbs from Provence as if I were standing on the marrow of Aix. Wow, that's a firework of aromas. The palate is just as complex and exciting, where the wine builds up a lot of pressure, shows its structure and immediately wraps it up in a juicy, taut body, which is packed with energy for a great finish. Lee Hudson and John Kongsgaard, the latter recently supported by his son Alex, have been a great team for many years and have a knack for Syrah. Do you think so? Then try this wine, you will be thrilled!
