The Flight

NO, this here, i.e. The Flight, is NOT a SECOND WINE! Do not be misled! The Flight is a Merlot-based wine with around a third Cabernet Sauvignon and a touch of Cabernet Franc, not unlike a Bordeaux. Of course, The Flight is not directly comparable to Bordeaux in its youth, but as it matures, the wines come closer together, with the Californian usually gaining the upper hand. The Flight is a wonderfully spicy wine, smelling of black olives (Petit Nice are my favorite) and wonderful violets, perhaps a little lavender, and yes, ok, a little dark cherry and a hint of graphite. The wine flows powerfully into the palate, coating it with silky tannins and seems to have no end in sight. A GREAT wine and quite honestly, I usually prefer The Flight to its supposedly bigger brother. And you?
