Champagne Extra Brut Mont Martin

2019

Traubensorten Pinot Meunier
Trinktemperatur 10° - 12°

Just for the record: a Pinot Meunier of Mont Martin quality is a rarity and a Pinot Meunier of Maillart quality at the price of Mont Martin is fortunately not a chimera, but an extremely rare creature, to stay with the mythology. Mont Martin is grown on an area of just 1.8 hectares in the municipality of Villers-Allerand, a good ten kilometers south of Reims.

This wine also matures for a few months in wooden barrels before being put away for 36 months. Its aroma is multifaceted and ranges from subtle red berry fruit aromas to spicy notes, freshly toasted brioche and a touch of smoke. It is deeply impressive how the wine moves through the palate, builds up powerful pressure, shows structure in the form of freshness and then slowly begins to fade out before the extract packs everything away and a fresh, spicy, unimaginably precise, crisp, mineral, incredibly beautiful finish sets in. A great wine, a food companion!
