Crémant d'Alsace Fleur de Lys Brut Nature

2018

Traubensorten Pinot Blanc
Trinktemperatur 10° - 12°

At the top of his list of favorite sparkling wines, Jörg Bühler - formerly of Bü's Restaurant - noted this wine, Fleur de Lys, on the occasion of our joint visit to Frank Buecher, which reminded us all a little of Cédric Bouchard's (Roses de Jeanne) ingenious La Bolorée - also a pure Pinot Blanc. "Sure," you might say, "it's also a Pinot Blanc." More than just the grape variety connects these wines, although La Bolorée is ultimately the more complex wine. But Frank's Crémant is fun, a lot of fun in fact, and that's what it's all about. 40 months "sur lattes" turned the perlage into a delicate mousse. Wonderful! As is its fragrance of baked apple, brioche and a hint of floral scent. Lively and wonderfully stimulating, the wine moves through the palate and ends in an enormously long, wonderfully harmonious and finely mineral finish! A picture-book crémant that need not fear comparison with its noble brothers from Champagne!
