Anjou Blanc Litus

2018

Traubensorten Chenin Blanc
Trinktemperatur 10° - 12°

To describe Morgat's Litus as an entry-level wine would not do justice to this great wine, because Litus is simply a completely different terroir. It is "schist", i.e. slate of volcanic origin, only here, where the Litus grows, it is much more weathered; it is as if millions of fine slate slabs had been smashed on the ground and the countless fine splinters left to their own devices. In winter, this creates a beautiful, almost archaic atmosphere. As soon as the grasses begin to sprout in spring, Mother Nature lays a gentle blanket over everything, leaving only the occasional large slate chunk sticking out. Winegrowers who are not work-shy achieve maximum quality with low yields (20 to 30 hectoliters per hectare here), foresight in the vineyard and patience in the cellar. The variety of aromas is indescribable, ranging from citrus fruits to tropical pineapple and grounding everything with a delicate scent of white almonds. It is impressive how the Litus takes up its space on the palate and builds up a lot of pressure. However, its pithy structure takes over relatively quickly and gives the wine a wonderfully elegant, juicy and saline finish. A wonderful wine!
