Dagueneau's Fume Blanc, today only called Blanc because Benjamin left the Pouilly-Fume appellation in protest, is often unjustly relegated to the background when people talk about Dagueneau. A mistake, in my opinion, because this wine has invaluable advantages over its more famous brothers. The most important is that it can be drunk with great pleasure just a few months after its release, whereas Pur Sang, Buisson Renard and Silx are still closed. And secondly, and not so incidentally, its price is just that little bit more attractive. It smells so wonderfully of orange blossom, cassis and spices that it is a real delight. On the palate, it moves like a feather in the wind, exuding divine aromas that reflect its fragrance. It has a texture that only the best, greatest wines can offer, lays like silk on the palate and never seems to want to end. Wow!
