I have to get one thing off my chest right at the start: This wine, it's rattling hot! 2021, i.e. XXI, was not an easy year in the life of a winemaker, especially not in the Saint-Andelin region. First the frost greatly reduced the yield, then the hail took a not inconsiderable part of the harvest and to top it all off, an above-average amount had to be sorted out during the harvest. When you hear how difficult this 2021 vintage was for the winemaker, expectations for the wine are restrained, even for a brilliant guy like Dagueneau. But Dagueneau wouldn't be Dagueneau if he wasn't so generous. I mean, he didn't hesitate and threw away what he didn't want in the wine, so he only squeezed the best remaining grape material. The result was wonderful wines, in very small quantities, but hellishly good, as I said. At some point, Benjamin put all the lots in the cellar together in his large goblet for fun - connoisseurs know which vessel I'm talking about. "Not bad at all," he thought to himself. But he wasn't sure. He brought the wines together again and again and each time he did so, he became more and more convinced that in this difficult year, combining ALL of his wines in this one, the XXI, was the right way to go. The result is the usual aromatic wine, whose minerality is already evident in the aroma and which, as in the best years, moves through the palate charged with energy, shows a firm structure and finishes with wonderful precision, right to the point, so that the saliva just shoots! Don't hesitate, you will LOVE this wine if you can get hold of a few bottles.
