Even though the “Le C du Sec” is the more complex, bigger wine than this one and was rated highly by Parker, my heart beats modestly for the smaller one! You have to imagine that a visit to Guffens-Heynen is hard work, really, because many, I mean MANY wines are tasted. And because we are well aware of the incredible quality of Jean-Marie's wines and a tasting is always arranged in such a way that the really great wines are served at the end, we are usually reserved towards the first wine. In this case, in the case of Guffens-Heynen, this reserve is misplaced. Because this small, white, dry, wonderfully aromatic Bordeaux is as thick as a fist behind the non-existent ears. The wine smells heavenly! It has power, but also freshness, i.e. acidity that balances the body, and together with a fine, wonderfully fitting “amertume”, the result is a wine with a juicy, harmonious finish that is incredibly enjoyable and flows almost without resistance - so be careful! No, I would just like to vehemently emphasize once again: I think this wine is a BANG! And I would like to encourage you to try it, because it is worlds better than many wines that you often drink in Bordeaux and have to dig much deeper into your pockets for. So go ahead!
