Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru

La Fourchaume almost blew me away. Wow, what a wine! Sure, it's also excellent when young. That's a good thing, I think, because I enjoy it to the full. At the right moment with a bit of air, this wine is not stingy with its charms and lets swathes of mandarin oil, butter brioche dough, beeswax and that very special scent that lingers in the air after a summer thunderstorm rise from the glass. It is important to mention that Bessin's wines should not be enjoyed too cold, because at around 14 degrees they are perfect for me, shining with an athletic body and a breed that only a Chardonnay from the north can offer. Silky and taut at the same time, the Fourchaume moves across the tongue and shows its enormous quality in a breathtakingly complex, long finish. Marvelous!
