Chardonnay CIX Estate

CIX Vineyard, located directly next to Lauren Vineyard, planted with vines selected from its own stock, nevertheless grows on completely different soil to Lauren. Unlike Lauren, the soil here is barren, chalky and yet, or perhaps because of this, the grapes that grow here could not be better for producing a great wine. Please excuse this outburst of literary exuberance, but it seemed somehow fitting, this giving birth. Well, what I wanted to say is, hey look everyone, Aubert has planted another really great vineyard and is making a HAMMER wine from the fruit growing there! One that smells of honeysuckle and beeswax, fresh white almonds and delicate lemon, like a beguiling perfume. The wine is incomparable on the palate, pure, clear and, yes, transparent, elegant with a finish that is mineral, salty and ultimately wonderfully juicy and lingering.
