Chardonnay Hohlen

Chardonnay from the Zunzinger Rosenberg, where vines that are on average 25 years old stand in a thin layer of humus facing west on weathered limestone soil and provide fruit for a great white wine. Intense Chardonnay fruit - for me personally this is always a combination of white flower aromas, some honeydew melon and a fine sage scent - and this scent that fills the air after a summer thunderstorm, for me the epitome of minerality in the bouquet, this fruit and this scent really hit the spot. This is a serious perfume. Wow! The wine moves through the palate with power, but also with a lot of energy, building up pressure and unpacking an incredibly firm grip that makes the tongue click again and again. The saliva just shoots out and you can't help but take another sip to realize that the wine really is a rather ingenious work of art. The finish is, of course, salty, wonderfully pure and just doesn't want to end. So, this definitely has potential, powerful potential. It's just a shame that almost none of it is available.
