Chardonnay Sierra Madre «Le Souvenier»

One of my favorites, along with Kongsgaard's and Littorai's whites. Well, ok, gotcha, there's nothing wrong with Aubert's wines! Nevertheless, I reach for this wine more often than average when I want something white from California. That says something, doesn't it? And so do many of my customers. For example Simon, the former sommelier at the Hotel Chedi in Andermatt. He also really likes the Sierra Madre. And even Dunnuck must be a fan, because he has just given it a sensationally high rating. Great, isn't it? This wine is a stunner, not massive, no, the wine is simply sensationally good. The way it smells, white peaches combined with lemon curd, cardamom, elderflower, hay, a real rollercoaster ride. Wow! There's just as much going on on the palate. Full of energy, it moves, flatters, then the acidity surprises, it makes the wine juicy and everything ends in a wonderful, salty, mineral finish! Great cinema!
