Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Blanc Séguret

Here in Séguret, Grenache Blanc, Rousanne and Marsanne - three genuine Rhône varieties, although the latter actually comes from the northern banks - grow on light, sandy soil. This plot at the foot of Séguret is also mostly in the shade, as Julien's aim is to produce an aromatically complex yet elegant wine rich in finesse. First things first: Julien managed to square the circle with flying colors. Ok, it's not quite so difficult with these three varieties in the south ... Chardonnay (Bel Air) was a completely different challenge, which he also mastered. Quince, apricot and a delicate mix of herbs waft up from the glass and whisk the connoisseur away to the Midi - I can almost hear the cicadas chirping. It's great how the wine nestles against the palate, dissolves again, forms and ends wonderfully focused, crystal clear on the sweet spot (golfer's term). What a wonderful white!
