Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Honivogl

Hirtzberger's Honivogl is perhaps the quintessential Grüner Veltliner, but certainly the best-known wine of this variety. It grows in the Axpoint vineyard and at the foot of the Singeriedel.  With a sure hand, the Hirtzbergers press a powerful wine, which aromatically can also have something of a Riesling, a fantastic one by the way. Even the aroma of the wine exudes a good portion of minerality along with super neat apricot notes, smoky layers and a hellishly sharp spicy component that gives the bouquet an almost endless depth. The wine takes over the palate with power, moving rather sluggishly at first, the wine seems almost sweet for a moment due to its enormous density. But at the same moment the acidity is unpacked, which sets the wine on its feet and makes it fresh, precise and elegant. Honivogl is the perfect Grüner Veltliner!
