You already had me with your two Aligotés, Talloulah. But with this Hautes-Côtes de Beaune from the Les Côtes vineyard, you've "closed the bag". It's hard to believe what Talloulah and Hugo have delivered! Of course, if you worked at Roulot, you learned a thing or two. But you have to be able and willing to put what you've learned into practice yourself. And yes, I can confirm that Hugo did it VERY well, because I'm actually asking myself right now, as I'm standing here in their cellar in Maranges, why I should drink anything other than this wine when I'm in the mood for a Burgundy. And unfortunately the answer is as trivial as it is painful: it's all down to the quantity of this great wine available to us; 12 bottles, no joke, unfortunately! So I am happy to share a few bottles with those of you who read my scribblings and enjoy tasting the wine, are quick enough and are able to secure a bottle of this beauty, which smells delicately of lime zest, yeast and smoke - without the use of new wood - and is lively and extremely precise on the palate, with a wonderfully mineral and clear finish. I wish you luck!
