Mâcon-Pierreclos Juliette et les Vieilles de Chavigne

2022

Traubensorten Chardonnay
Trinktemperatur 12° - 14°

Exactly, Guffens says what's what, always! So we know that the grapes for this wine come from the "Juliette" parcel and the "old" ones in Chavigne. Chavigne, by the way, is a super, super steep site and faces south-west; the youngest vines are 20 years old, the oldest 90. Quite impressive, I have to say. Jean-Marie hates copper, he says it's poison for people and nature, so he avoids using it in the vineyard as far as possible. It goes without saying that systemic products are used. Oh yes, I haven't yet mentioned that everything at Guffens is fermented spontaneously, i.e. completely without Rhine yeasts, and that only a few new barrels are used. And now to the wine: it emerges from the glass with a wonderful yellow fruitiness and a wonderfully complex aroma of pears, then orange peel and suddenly a hint of nutmeg. The fragrance recomposes itself over and over again. Powerful and full of character, the wine then flows onto the palate and takes up its own space. Its texture, its all-balancing acidity and these crisp mineral components are indescribable. A hell of a wine!
