Riesling Auslese (dry) Kallstadter Saumagen

When we picked up our last delivery of our blood group from Koehler-Ruprecht a few weeks ago, Dominik gave us a sample bottle of the 2018 Auslese. Of course, I couldn't wait to taste the wine, so the next day, I poured myself over it. No, I didn't empty it right away, but I watched it carefully over three days and realized that air and a not-too-cold temperature are immensely important to mobilize the wine's last reserves. If everything is right, then the wine will put in a MIGHTY effort and should be very hard to beat. The bouquet is a killer blend of vineyard peaches, delicate herbal scents, underpinned by a wax and honey aroma that is quite something! On the palate, the wine fans out just as much, exerts pressure and really gets stuck in, finishing juicy, mineral and seemingly never ending. For me, this is a cuddly toy candidate!
