Saint-Véran Premiers Jus

Jean-Marie combines three parcels in this wine. Firstly, the north-facing «Les Combes» on deep, clayey soil, then «Les Carettes», a plot facing north-east, with strikingly stony clay-limestone soil, and secondly «Le Clos des Poncetys», a hill that faces about two-thirds south and one-third east, with limestone and a very thin layer of humus on top. Terroir, check! Permier Jus, again only the first pressing, which is used for this sensual wine. The best examples from the Saint-Véran appellation are wonderfully exotic, a bit like my favorite Saint-Aubins. Green, i.e. crunchy pears combine with aromas of oranges, a hint of fresh white almond paste and delicious vineyard peach fruit to create a breathtaking perfume. Well-proportioned and juicy, superbly structured and firm with a long, salty, electrifying finish! Chapeau!
