Weissburgunder Möhlin

2020

Traubensorten Weissburgunder
Trinktemperatur 10° - 12°

The steep limestone terraces of the Ölberg provide the heart of this great Pinot Blanc. Most of the vines were planted back in the 1950s. Psst, I'll let you in on a little secret here: this Pinot Blanc is not actually a pure Pinot Blanc, as a few Chardonnay and Chasselas vines also grow in this location, the fruit of which is harvested and fermented with the Pinot Blanc. But don't worry, it is definitely the Pinot Blanc that gives the wine its character. Initially somewhat restrained, but with air the wine fans out its aroma wheel and smells wonderfully of herbs, quinces and Reineclaude, that somewhat bitter-sweet greenish plum that I love so much. Powerful yes, but always elegant and fresh, with finesse and a very special body tension, the Möhlin moves across the tongue, unpacking a few tannins at the end that inevitably make your tongue click. The magical finale of this hellishly good Pinot Blanc is particularly juicy and almost never-ending. This is what Pinot Blanc tastes like to me! And you?
