Andy Smith is the man behind the name DuMol, who has both feet firmly on the ground in the Russian River Valley, which is dusty in the summer. Wine grows here, it's not made, and everyone at DuMol is well aware of this, even though Andy Smith's job title is “winemaker”. The cellar team works with great sensitivity and foresight, consciously avoiding extreme extractions and always using little new wood to allow the terroir to express itself. It is no coincidence that DuMol's wines feel as if they are actually growing in a cool climate, because they are elegant and fresh. Surprise achieved!
