I love Marie-Thérèse Chappaz! She ticks just like me, so just right! Her Grain Sauvage is actually a Humagne Rouge, so it's also an aboriginal. And because she has so little of it, she bottles this wine exclusively in magnums. Any petty contemporary would fill it into the smallest possible containers, but Marie-Thérèse is the complete opposite, generous, and that is precisely the basis for growing great wines like hers. Just think of the pruning, the sorting of the fruit, how important generosity is in this work. The wine has a great aroma of wild berries, but also a floral vein. Everything is carried by a breathtaking spiciness. On the palate, the wine is dense and fleshy, showing muscle and noble structure, all without losing its poise and elegance.
