Not only reds, but also white wines are Jonas' specialty. But just white like Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc, that would be boring over time, so Huber planted Completer and Savagnin. He has done an exceptionally good job with the Completer, which is usually a powerful wine. Jonas knows how to maintain the wine's strength and density while giving it enough energy to make his Completer one of the juiciest, most elegant and vibrant in Switzerland. On several occasions, he has made us doubt the wines of other winemakers who are famous for this variety and have much more experience with Completer than Jonas. But sometimes it is the approach, the vision, that allows something new and exciting to emerge from the familiar. From my point of view, that is exactly what has happened here.
Huber's Completer smells very, shall we say classically, of quince, but more like the fresh, furry fruit than the jelly made from it. The high notes – if you could call it a scale – are also wonderful, like orange blossoms, so delicate that they almost seem fleeting. Huber has perfectly harmonized the racy acidity with the pH value, resulting in a lively, fresh, juicy, almost unexpectedly noble, indeed, somewhat elegant wine that entertains in an elegant and stylish way at a high level. A somewhat different, but just as good, or should I say better, Completer!
