Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Sur la Roche

2023

Traubensorten Chardonnay
Trinktemperatur 11° - 13°

Chalk limestone in a south-southeasterly exposure at an altitude of 400 meters is the soil in which the Chardonnay vines for this gigantic white are rooted! Like all of Jean-Marie Guffens-Heynen's wines, this one starts with a subtle reduction that makes the wine mysterious. With air, hay aromas and ultra-pretty floral scents work their way to the surface and with even more air, honeycomb aromas can also be detected, as well as a hint of freshly toasted macadamia nuts or a wonderful, fresh pear scent. The smell of the wine is simply breathtaking, it's hard to get enough of its perfume. After such an orgy of aromas, the expectations of the sensation on the palate are enormous, I agree. BUT, and this is phenomenal, the wine not only fulfills these expectations, no, it virtually pulverizes them! You don't have something like this in your glass every day, a wine of such density, power and freshness is a rarity. Its structure is first-class, needless to say, and its energy is inexhaustible. The finish is so endlessly juicy that I am already salivating as I write down my impressions ..., this saltiness, this freshness inevitably makes the tongue click. This is a GREAT wine and anyone who doesn't put it in their cellar has only themselves to blame.
