Pouilly-Fuissé Le Haut de la Roche

2022

Traubensorten Chardonnay
Trinktemperatur 11° - 13°

Pouilly-Fuissé is the source of the greatest wines of the Mâconnais, a bit like Puligny-Montrachet and its Grand Crus for the Côte-d'Or. Vergisson's 1er Cru site Sur La Roche, steep and with a wafer-thin layer of humus on a limestone cliff, facing south-east, lies high up on the slope, but above it towers Le Haut de la Roche, on the same terroir in the same exposure. Exactly, we too initially asked ourselves which was better, to be at the top or a little further down the hill. Did you come to the same conclusion as we did? The higher up the cooler, the cooler the better, now that climate change is a fact. We found Le Haut de la Roche to be much more agile, there was more energy, the wine was clearer and even more to the point. It is wonderful how it smells of white flowers and how elegantly and subtly pears and orange notes mingle with it, how a fine nutty component gives the bouquet an almost infinite depth. The feeling on the palate is wonderful, elegance that combines perfectly with power and makes it clear that there is something big in the glass here, a wine with lively acidity, one that makes you salivate in unimaginable quantities. This is a BLOCKBUSTER! Fabulous!
